Noelle is a 2019 American fantasy adventure Christmas comedy film produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It is directed and written by Marc Lawrence. The film stars Anna Kendrick as Noelle Kringle, the daughter of Santa Claus. It also stars Bill Hader, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Billy Eichner, Julie Hagerty, and Shirley MacLaine.
The synopsis follows Noelle has always had to support and encourage her brother, Nick, who was ordained to take over as Santa. When Nick disappears right before Christmas, Noelle goes on a funny and heartfelt journey to find her brother and ultimately what Christmas is really about.
Noelle is a nice a cute Christmas flick, but its not an instant classic. In fact, actress Anna Kendrick literally puts this film on her back with her infectious wit and charm. The film has some good gags (Yogurt Pants) but it is hindered by weak special effects and a story that doesn’t fully come together in the end. Bill Hader and Billy Eichner also star in the film but both are severely underutilized. Noelle desperately wants to be Elf but falls way short of being a yearly Christmas standard.
However, like I said Kendrick cuteness shines through an otherwise forgettable movie and elevates it. Noelle won’t want to make you want to run out and get Disney+, but it is something nice to put on in the background as you celebrate the holidays with your family and its safe for the grandparents.
With that said, HipsterZOMBIEJoint doesn’t necessarily give Noelle a ringing endorsement but we do give it a light recommend.
