A zombie virus decimates Earth except the Mi’qmaq community of Red Crow in “Blood Quantum”

Blood Quantum is a Canadian horror film, directed by Jeff Barnaby and released in 2019. The film depicts the effects of a zombie uprising on a First Nations reserve whose residents are personally immune to the plague because of their indigenous heritage, but must still cope with the consequences of its effects on the world around them, including a wave of white refugees seeking shelter on the reserve.

The film’s cast includes Michael Greyeyes, Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, Forrest Goodluck, Kiowa Gordon, Brandon Oakes, Olivia Scriven, Kawennáhere Devery Jacobs and Gary Farmer. The film was shot in 2018, primarily at the Kahnawake and Listugujreserves in Quebec and the city of Campbellton in New Brunswick.

Barnaby describes the film as a comment on colonialism.
