HipsterZOMBIEJoint Movie Review: Star Wars Rise Of Skywalker

JJ Abrams spends a lot of ROS correcting the problems fans had with Rian Johnson’s Last Jedi, to the detriment of this film. The film itself covers a LOOOTTTT!!! They honestly should have just made this a three hour movie because despite some exciting scenes of fan service, the story feels rushed and unfulfilling.

The Emperor appears for no reason other than this film needs a real villain, supporting characters (Rose Tico) are relegated to glorified extra status, and unless you are Rey, Poe, Finn, or Kylo Ren, you don’t really get any shine in this film.

My biggest problem with this film however is that Lucasfilm chose it to be the final chapter in the Skywalker saga. It doesn’t feel earned. These characters, they shouldn’t be the ones to close out the saga. Maybe after another trilogy of films, but not this one. If this had been simply an ending to this trilogy I wouldn’t have been as harsh on it. But the fact that this is the end of the Skywalker story, it just falls flat in a way we haven’t seen from this franchise since the Prequels.

With that said, the HipsterZOMBIEJoint Experience gives Rise of Skywalker a very light recommend.
