DC/WB’s upcoming girl gang team up film, “Birds of Prey” is getting some very positive buzz from an early screening in London.
The overall consensus: it’s sure as hell better than Suicide Squad, but that’s not saying much. But the most common reaction is that the film is fun, with great action and some fun performances. That said, more than a few people have problems with the movie’s pacing. See the Birds of Prey early reactions below:
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), or simply Birds of Prey, is a 2020 American superhero film based on the DC Comics team Birds of Prey. It is the eighth film in the DC Extended Universe, and a spin-off of the 2016 film Suicide Squad. It was directed by Cathy Yan and written by Christina Hodson, and stars Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Ella Jay Basco, Ali Wong, and Ewan McGregor. The film follows Harley Quinn as she joins forces with Black Canary, Helena Bertinelli, and Renee Montoya to save Cassandra Cain from Gotham City crime lord Black Mask.
Since the events of Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn has left the Joker. When Roman Sionis, a narcissistic crime lord known as Black Mask, places a hit on a young girl named Cassandra Cain, Gotham City turns upside down looking for her. In response, Harley joins forces with Dinah Lance, Helena Bertinelli, and Renee Montoya in order to protect the girl and bring Sionis down.
Birds of Prey is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures in the United States on February 7, 2020 in standard, IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX and ScreenX formats.
