When Sheriff Hopper perished at the end of Stranger Things Season 3 it was the gut punch of the series. If you have any feelings at all your eyes watered up when we thought he died in the explosion under the Starcourt Mall during the season 3 finale.
Buuuuuut, the finale had a stinger at the end where we see a Russian prison where not only houses a Demogorgon but also a mysterious “American” prisoner. Now we know that that prisoner is actually Hopper. Instead of the explosion evaporating him, the energy that the Russians were trying to harness somehow transported Hopper to a Russian prison. In the teaser above we see him working with a chain gang under armed Russian soldier supervision.
Season 4 is rumored to be the finale season of the smash Netflix series. Perhaps the final season will reveal the secrets of the Upside Down and also see the return of the other super powered children like Eleven from season 2.
