Directed by Jason Lei Howden, Guns Akimbo, is an action packed comedy filled with head shots and dick shots. It stars Daniel Radcliffe, Samara Weaving, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Ned Dennehy, Grant Bowler, Edwin Wright, and Rhys Darby.
Miles (Radcliffe) is a video game developer who inadvertently becomes the next participant in a real-life death match that streams online. While Miles soon excels at running away from everything, that won’t help him outlast Nix, (Samara Weaving) a killer at the top of her game.
The film is shot like a first person video game with amazing kinetic energy and break neck action that will have you yelling out “oh shit” while nervously laughing.
The film tries to make some social commentary about how everyone is constantly on their phones/computers and completely desensitized to the violence that we are inundated with on a daily basis.
The film has a retro video game inspired soundtrack with some well placed 80s rock songs. So many aspects of the film has hidden video game Easter eggs and references that only gamers will notice throughout the film.
The film is left open for a sequel and I got one hope it gets one. This flick has some great gags, great one liners and some fantastic action scenes.
