HipsterZOMBIEJoint Movie Review: Bad Boys For Life

One last ride

Will Smith & Martin Lawrence team up once again for another wild and hilarious action adventure. The past comes back to haunt Mike Lowrey as he and various associates from his past become targets of a mysterious assailant. The film is filled with great gags and some high octane action. (Spoilers Ahead)

Bad Boys for Life is a 2020 American action comedy film directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and written by Chris Bremner, Peter Craig and Joe Carnahan. The sequel to Bad Boys II (2003), it is the third installment in the Bad Boys franchise and is based on a story by Craig and Carnahan. The film stars Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Núñez, Kate del Castillo, Nicky Jam, and Joe Pantoliano. Smith co-produced the film with Jerry Bruckheimer and Doug Belgrad. In Bad Boys for Life, Miamidetectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett investigate a string of murders tied to Lowrey’s troubled past.

Smith and Lawrence continue to have fantastic chemistry as Smith’s Mike Lowrey continues to drag Marcus Burnett on another wild adventure. This time they are aided by a new generation of tech savvy upstart cops.

Realizing that Mike will not heed orders to stay away from the investigation, Captain Howard reluctantly allows him to work with the tech-driven team in charge, the Advanced Miami Metro Operations (AMMO), led by Mike’s ex-girlfriend Rita.

The antagonist of the film is the result of a forgotten mistake from Lowrey past when he was deep undercover. A lost love, Isabel Aretas, widow of cartel kingpin Benito. When she escapes from a Mexican prison with the aid of her son Armando, they set a plan in motion to take out Lowrey and all the people that helped put Isabel away.

Armando is revealed to be Lowrey’s son hellbent on revenge for his mother. This sets up an action packed finale that is one of the best in the series. If this really is the end of the franchise, they went out in a really big and satisfying way. However, with the success of this film at the box office, Smith and Lawrence both might be swayed to come back for more. I for one will be right there to see it if they do.

The HipsterZOMBIEJoint Experience highly recommends Bad Boys For Life.
