The “John Wick” franchise is getting a very interesting spin-off titled “Ballerina.”
Underworld and Live Free or Die Hard Director Len Wiseman is set to helm the film.
Ballerina focuses on a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family. The picture is on a fast track, with a script by Shay Hatten, whose credits include the Zack Snyder-directed Army of the Dead for Netflix and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
The picture is being produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Chad Stahelski, with John Wick star Keanu Reeves an executive producer along with Kaley Smalley, head of development for Wiseman’s Sketch Films.
Kick-Ass Star, Chloe-Grace Moretz is being eyed to headline the film. Moretz would be playing Rooney Brown, an orphan who is trained to become an elite assassin. She travels the globe eliminating terrorists and other targets. She has a code though and will not kill those she believes does not deserve death. Much like John Wick, Rooney retires and only comes out once her family is murdered.
The studio is also in talks with Anjelica Huston to reprise her role as The Director who was introduced in John Wick 3.
