Disney Plus’ Obi-Wan Series Could Be Bringing Back A Familiar Sith Lord…

According to LMR, Hayden Christensen will be returning as Anakin Skywalker in the untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series. No word on how big of a role he would have but it’s likely he will appear in flashbacks or visions.

Christensen recently returned to the Star Wars as the disembodied voice of Anakin Skywalker urging Rey to defeat the Emperor in Star Wars Rise of Skywalker. Hayden Christensen has yet to comment on the Obi-Wan Kenobi rumors, but even if he did, the actor would more than likely deny it. It is believed that the big announcement will come during Star Wars Celebration at the end of August, along with confirmation that Rosario Dawson is portraying Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian season 2. As of this writing, the annual event is still scheduled to take place, though that could change at any moment due to current events.

The untitled Obi-Wan series hit a snag when the series, which had been deep into the writing stages, was pretty much sent back to the drawing board. However, the return of the highly acclaimed Clone Wars animated series on Disney Plus has renewed fan interest in the “Prequel Era” of Star Wars. Christensen’s take on both Anakin and Vader never got fully fleshed out and his descent into the Dark Side always felt rushed. Something that the Clone Wars animated series helped expound upon and add a new layer to Anakin through the beloved young Jedi apprentice, Ahsoka Tano.

Earlier rumors suggested that the Kenobi series would take place eight years after Revenge of the Sith. Former writer, Hossein Amini‘s version of the script featured appearances from a young Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, again, the new script could change all that. There has been speculation that the series could overlap with Solo: A Star Wars Story and possibly bring back Darth Maul. However, this would contradict the events that took place in Star Wars Rebels.

Deborah Chow, who received praise for her directing duties on The Mandalorian, is set to direct Kenobi. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy will produce along-with Chow, Jason D. McGatlin (The Rise of Skywalker), Tracey Seaward (The Queen), and John Swartz (Rogue One).

What do you think of Hayden Christensen once again donning the black leather suit and wielding the red lightsaber again? Let us know in the comment!
