A gang of thieves plan a heist during a hurricane and encounter trouble when a cop tries to force everyone in the building to evacuate. One of the people in the building: an old grumpy, gun loving, Mel Gibson. Good luck thieves!
Gibson stars in this edge-of-your-seat action-thriller that explodes during a violent Category 5 hurricane. As disgraced cop Cardillo (Emile Hirsch, Into the Wild) races to evacuate an apartment building, he comes across Dr. Troy (Kate Bosworth, Superman Returns) and her retired detective father, Ray.
Force of Nature is being released on 30 June via video on demand, as well as on DVD and Blu-ray.
Now of course, because it’s Mel, controversy is already surrounding the film.
After the trailer was revealed, several Twitter users criticised its premise, deeming it “tone-deaf” and disrespectful”.
The movie doesn’t reference a specific natural disaster, but some found that the plot didn’t sit well with regards to the devastating Hurricane Maria, a category-five hurricane that hit Puerto Rico in 2017.
