Godzilla vs Kong, the biggest fight of the century…..has been moved to 2021. After the less than stellar reception of Godzilla King of the Monsters Warner Bros really wanted to make sure they got the next MonsterVerse film right. So the March 2020 release date got pushed to November 2020. Then COVID-19 happened and turned the world upside down.
With the world in a constant state of flux and a new crisis occurring every month, studios have had to shift and move many films to later and later release dates. Such is the case for Wonder Woman 1984 and now Godzilla vs Kong. The director of the upcoming monster brawl had this to say via social media:
So alas, we will have to wait even longer to see Godzilla vs Kong despite the film being pretty much done. A sequel to Godzilla: King of the Monsters(2019) and Kong: Skull Island (2017), it is the fourth film in Legendary‘s MonsterVerse. The film is also the 36th film in the Godzillafranchise, the 12th film in the King Kongfranchise, and the fourth Godzilla film to be completely produced by a Hollywood studio.[a] The film stars Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Jessica Henwick, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir.
In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
