HipsterZOMBIEJoint New Music Friday Picks 6/26/20

Lots of great new albums are dropping today to get us rockin’ through the weekend! All of these albums and more are now streaming on Apple Music and Spotify.

Per NME –

With a whirlwind of success elevating the band to greater heights, you might expect a rushed third album – but Khruangbin neatly surprises with ‘Mordechai’. Underscored with memories and love for Houston, a city that shaped the trio, ‘Mordechai’ is the album on which they allow us further into their mysterious world.

Women In Music Pt. 3 – Haim

Per Pitchfork –

The third album from the trio is far and away their best. Intimate, multidimensional, and wide-ranging, the songwriting shines with personality and a great curiosity for melody and style.  In interviews, each sister has described a personal trauma that she brought to the studio. Alana has spoken of the grief she suffered when a best friend passed away at age 20, and Este has talked about the low points of living with Type 1 diabetes. Most felt is Danielle’s deep depression; she traces its origin to when her partner (and co-producer) Ariel Rechtshaidwas diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2015.

Everythings Strange Here – G Eazy

The album has just one feature, being ‘All The Things You’re Searching For’ with Kossisko and new girlfriend Ashley Benson – who G-Eazy did a cover of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ with just a couple of months ago. G-Eazy described the album as a “ten song project that encapsulates my mindset and creative inspiration over the last few months.” Highlight of the album is G Eazy’s cover of the David Bowie track, Lazarus.

The Last of Us 2 Soundtrack

Per HipsterZOMBIEJoint Experience –

Composer Gustavo Santaolalla picks up right where he left off in the first Last of Us game. The mournful guitar strums and longing in the score is a perfect addition to the franchise. The score creates a symphonic background of a world that has endured so much from an apocalyptic outbreak. It’s no wonder the composer has been hired for the upcoming HBO live-action Last of Us series.

Come back next week for a fresh batch of new music Friday picks only on the HipsterZOMBIEJoint Experience!
