DC Entertainment is doing the SDCC experience in the comfort of your own home in August, with DC FanDome which will set us up with a year’s worth of DC Comics, DCEU, and Arrowverse announcements. They passed on ComicCon@Home (which takes place in July) for a special August event like no other.
Now we know we can expect news and sneak peeks for upcoming DC Films like Wonder Woman 1984, The Suicide Squad, and The Batman. But what else might be revealed? On August 22nd, DC FanDome will answer the question and expected to reveal something BIG.
By accessing the official site, DCFanDome.com, viewers will be taken into the Hall of Heroes, the main hub for all of the big news. From there, they can head to one of five satellite “worlds”, leaning heavily into the Multiverse theme.
- DC WatchVerse is the home for panels, screenings, footage, and behind the scenes details from DC Films, TV, home video and games.
- DC YouVerse has fan-created content that Warner Brothers licenses into infinity if a fan signs up to create for them. DC KidsVerse will have family-friendly content for all ages.
- DC InsiderVerse is the con panel experience, with introductions to all of the various spheres of DC content, and behind the scenes looks at the making of DC comics, games, TV shows, movies, parks and toys.
- DC FunVerse has the con shopping experience – digital giveaways, comics, model kits, and some exclusives.
- The Blerd and Boujee House promises “a celebration of Black nerd culture…bringing Blerds, LatinxGeeks and all nerds ‘party-with-a-purpose’ vibes.”
But the biggest rumor is the reveal of 2 secret yet to be announced DC Films. Now this could mean one or two things. One they announce two new films no one has any clue they are working on (Justice League Rebirth, Lobo, Man of Steel 2, Green Lantern) or they show exclusive first look footage at films that are in active development like (New Gods, The Flash, Aquaman 2, Black Adam.)
I’m leaning more towards the latter seeing as to how DC and WB don’t won’t to get ahead of themselves again by announcing a slate of 10 films with no actors, directors, or scripts attached, like they did at SDCC 2 years in a row.
What do you think the two secret films are that they will announce? Let us know in the comments!
