Brace yourself gamers because G4 is coming back in 2021! Long before Twitch and when social media was first really starting to take a foothold in our culture, G4 was the original one–stop place for gaming, movies, geek news, and of course Olivia Munn. A teaser video that debuted during Comic-Con@Home on IGN Live alluded to the network’s return. The teaser included a number of references to the running jokes from the network’s shows, including the Golden Mullet Award, Sessler’s Soapbox and Rot Gut. It ends on a game of Pong (the game played at both the beginning and end of the network’s lifespan), before being interrupted by the appearance of the G4 logo, the date 2021, and a tagline, “We never stopped playing”.
G4 (also known as G4tv) was an American pay television network that was owned by G4 Media, a joint venture between the NBCUniversal Cable division of NBCUniversaland Dish Network. The channel was geared primarily toward young male adult viewers and originally focused on the world of video games, before transitioning to a more general entertainment format. G4 was headquartered in Los Angeles.
Attack of the Show was the flagship show of the channel followed by shows like X-Play, Web Soup, Campus PD and etc. Familiar Hosts such as Kevin Pereira, Olivia Munn, Chris Hardwick, Chris Gore, Adam Sessler, Morgan Webb, Wil Wheaton, Grace Helbig, Alison Haislip, Sara Underwood, Jessica Chobot, Blair Butler, and many more made this fantastic channel what it was until it was taken away from us way too early on December 31st 2014. By that time the channel had become a shell of itself showing reruns of Cops, Heroes, and Lost.
Now more than ever is the perfect time for this channel to return. 2021 can’t get here fast enough!
