We got our first look at director McG’s horror comedy sequel to Netflix’s The Babysitter, The Babysitter Killer Queen.
Check out the first look images from the upcoming sequel below:
In September 2019, it was announced Judah Lewis, Hana Mae Lee, Robbie Amell, Bella Thorne, Andrew Bachelor, Emily Alyn Lind, Leslie Bibb and Ken Marino would reprise their roles from the first film in the sequel, with McG directing from a screenplay by Dan Lagana with Wonderland Sound and Vision and Boies/Schiller Film Group co-financing and producing the film.
Spoiler alert: The Babysitter killed off many of its major characters—or did it? When Netflix announced a sequel, the majority of the original film’s actors confirmed their return, including Thorne, Amell, and Lee, whose characters were all presumed dead. Now, with the release of these first-look photos, it’s clear that most members of the demonic cult are alive and well. NX, Netflix’s geek-centric Twitter account, tweeted a gif and four photos showing Cole and his friend Melanie, played by Emily Alyn Lind, as well as Thorne, Bachelor, and Amell’s characters. So, very much, not dead.
Along with presenting some of the original cast, the photos also include a new group of faces. One appears to be Jenna Ortega, the You and Insidious alum who has an unnamed but confirmed role in The Babysitter: Killer Queen. However, the one notable person that’s missing is Bee, the nominal babysitter and apparent leader of the cult—who’s the only member shown to be alive in a mid-credits scene from the first film.
It’s unclear how, exactly, some of these characters came back from the dead, but they look like they’re out for blood. It’s also unclear whether Bee will return.
The sequel is scheduled for a September 10, 2020 release on Netflix.
