“The Mandalorian” Season 2 Gets An Official Release Date

Get ready for some more intergalactic bounty hunting and baby Yoda cuteness, because Disney + series, The Mandalorian has set a release date for its second season.

Disney Plus just announced October 30, 2020 as the official release date! The show, set after the fall of the Empire, but before the rise of the First Order, follows around a bounty hunter (Pedro Pascal) seeking to eke out a living with his blasters and wits in a near-lawless frontier.

When “The Mandalorian” first arrived in November 2019, it did so with a lot of weight on its armored shoulders: It was the first live-action “Star Wars” series.

But it quickly became a fan favorite — and it introduced the world to its newest pop culture icon, the Child, better known as Baby Yoda (who isn’t actually the baby Yoda.)

The first season is nominated for 15 Emmy Awards, including outstanding drama series. Season 2 has A LOT to live up to and it plans to introduce a slew of new characters. They idea is these new characters will take the internet by storm, much like how Baby Yoda did, and spin off into their own shows.

One such character is the Clone Wars fan favorite Jedi, Ahsoka Tano played by Rosario Dawson.

New castings for Season 2 also include Battlestar Galactica‘s Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze; The Terminator star Michael Biehn as a bounty hunter; Attack of the Clones alum Temuera Morrison (as the iconic Boba Fett?); and Justified gunslinger Timothy Olyphant in an undisclosed role.

Season 2’s directors include Dave Filoni (who helmed the Mandalorian pilot and Season 1’s “The Gunslinger”), Rick Famuyiwa (who directed Season 1’s “The Child” and “The Prisoner”), cast member Carl Weathers, series EP Jon Favreau, Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi, Sin City) and Peyton Reed (Ant-Man).
