The Scream trinity of Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell is complete as all three will now take part in an all new sequel.
Campbell who is now 46, returns to the horror franchise which started 25 years ago with the original Scream in 1996.
In a statement, the actress confirmed that Scream 5 will remain in the fictional town of Woodsboro – the scene of the original Scream film’s grisly string of Ghostface murders.
“I am beyond excited to step back into the role of Sidney Prescott and return to Woodsboro.”
Campbell will be joined in Scream 5 by a host of franchise newcomers/bodies in waiting including Dylan Minnette (13 Reasons Why), Mason Gooding (Love, Victor), Kyle Gallner (Nightmare on Elm Street), Jasmin Savoy Brown (The Leftovers), and Mikey Madison (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood).
Returning from Scream 4 is Marley Shelton as Deputy Judy Hicks – and speculation is already circulating that there still might be more than meets the eye to the creepily comedic police officer.
Scream 5 is which is reportedly due to begin filming in North Carolina later this year ahead of a 2022 release.
