I’m not going to lie, the first several Godzilla anime films were dull as hell. But maybe Netflix can rebound with a new anime series coming our way.
The streaming giant announced Tuesday its new series Godzilla: Singular Point.
The new anime hails from My Hero Academiastudio Bones and Black Bullet‘s Orange. Godzilla Singular Point, the latest addition to the Godzilla universe, will be a separate project unrelated to the series of prior animated films including Netflix’s other titles Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters and Godzilla: The Planet Eater.
Directed by Atsushi Takahashi, Godzilla Singular Point, boasts character designs byExorcist’s Kazue Kato and a new Godzilla design from Ghibli animator Eiji Yamamori. Joining the Godzilla Singular Point team is also composer Kan Sawada, Toh Enjoe and writer Kazue Kato.
The first Godzilla Netflix anime film gave us the biggest iteration of the giant lizard ever. But he was so big that he moved around like a lethargic living mountain only rarely using his iconic radioactive heat ray. The series of films focused more on uninteresting human characters than Godzilla himself.
Hopefully, this new Godzilla anime series will give us the kaiju action fans really want to see.
