HipsterZOMBIEJoint Movie Review: Welcome To Blumhouse – The Lie

Lies are like avalanches. No matter if it’s started with a little tremor or large shake, the fallout that’s left in its wake is all the same. Devastating. Such is the case in Welcome To Blumhouse’s The Lie.

The film is a remake of the 2015 German film We Monsters, and stars Mireille Enos, Peter Sarsgaard and Joey King. Jason Blumserves as a producer under his Blumhouse Productions banner.

The story follows two parents wrestling with the consequences of their teenage daughter’s lethal mistake, proving just how far any parent would go to protect their child.

As one of the first two Welcome To Blumhouse films to debut on Amazon, The Lie hits it out of the park. It’s an emotional thriller about how far a divorced couple will go to cover up the heinous act of their daughter. Peter Sarsgaard and Mireille Enos play the divorced parents of the awkward and mouthy Kayla played wonderfully by Joey King. First off let me just say King is really finding her niche playing disturbed young women caught in various ordeals. She is an excellent actress who gives 100% in every role she is in (hell even in Wish Upon.)

However it’s Sarsgaard and Enos who are the stars here. While Kayla sits around watching television and acting like what she did meant nothing, her parents are desperately trying to trace ever step, cover every foot print corroborate every lie, even at one point trying to frame someone!

But it’s their final last ditch effort to save their daughter that is the most damning. By the time the big plot twist comes you don’t really register what is really happening until it’s too late. The ending is gut wrenching and maddening.

I don’t want to go into spoilers because the twist ending is really worth waiting for especially how it plays out. So jump onto Amazon and check this thriller out!

The HipsterZOMBIEJoint Experience highly recommends DEVOURING “THE LIE” NOW!
