Netflix’s upcoming superhero comedy/adventure film, We Can Be Heroes is written, directed and produced by Robert Rodriguez, serving as a stand-alone sequel to The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D (2005).
After their parents have been kidnapped by alien invaders, the children of Earth’s superheroes team up and learn to work together to save their parents and the world.
Taylor Lautner and Taylor Dooleyplayed Sharboy and Lavagirl, respectively, as child actors in that earlier movie. Dooley, now 27, plays an adult Lavagirl in We Can Be Heroes, while JJ Dashnaw (who played Brat’s dad in Rodriguez’s Spy Kids) plays Sharkboy. The are now parents at this point in time and their daughter, Guppy, as seen in the photos by way of Bird Box‘s Vivien Lyra Blair, is half shark. Check out images from the film below:
Pedro Pascal, Christian Slater, and Boyd Holbrook rank among the members of The Heroics; while the kid heroes include YaYa Gosselin as Missy, Isaiah Russell-Bailey as Rewind, Akira Akbar as Fast Forward, Hala Finley as Ojo, and Dylan Henry Lau as Slo-Mo.
The cast also stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christopher McDonald, Adriana Barraza, Lyon Daniels, Nathan Blair, Lotus Blossom, Andy Walken, Andrew Diaz, Sung Kang, Haley Reinhart, J. Quinton Johnson, Brittany Perry-Russell, and Brently Heilbron.
We Can Be Heroes is set to debut on Netflix on New Year’s Day.
