Lots of great new albums are dropping today to get us rockin’ through the weekend! All of these albums and more are now streaming on Apple Music and Spotify.
Plastic Hearts – Miley Cyrus
Across 15 tracks, the singer, 28, embraces being utterly unapologetic and secures her place among rock royalty thanks to collaborations with the legendary Billy Idol, Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks. She also brings Dua Lipa along for the ride of a lifetime with their badass, unintended quarantine anthem, “Prisoner.”
Driven by pulse-racing electronic and live drums, bursting with gritty and sometimes psychotic guitars that weave in and out of luxurious keyboard soundscapes, and brimming with glorious melodies that fill the senses and hang on tight, everything about PAINTED SHIELD’s self-titled album — a genre-bending mix of roots rock, electronica and contemporary folk-pop — feels effortlessly assured.
No Fun Mondays – Billie Joe Armstrong
Way back in March, when Zoom quizzes were still considered fun, Green Day’s Billie Armstrong found a way to pass the time and stay connected by covering American soft-rockers Tommy James And The Shondells’ oh-so-fitting ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ (which was made famous by ’80s pop star Tiffany. This kicked off a series he called ‘No Fun Mondays’; he told fans on Twitter that he’d release “a cover song every week until we’re let back out into the world”. Well, he made it up to 14 covers and we’re still all stuck indoors, but now he’s gathered them all together for a vinyl release.
The Mandalorian Season 2 Soundtrack
Ludwig Göransson’s score for The Mandalorian season two so far is a marked improvement on the first, with several enjoyable new themes and a couple of great action cues making for a genuinely enjoyable listening experience.
Come back next week for a fresh batch of new music Friday picks only on the HipsterZOMBIEJoint Experience!
