Mortal Kombat is getting a 21st century reboot and today we saw the first official logo for the film. Mortal Kombat will debut in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously as part of Warner Bros initiative to release their films during this COVID-19 global pandemic. Check out the logo below:
The logo is simplistic but effective. The logo boasts a black background, but gold lettering. And separating “Mortal” and “Kombat” is the iconic dragon logo. And that’s it. Again, pretty simple and faithful. It pays homage to the original logo while giving it a touch of cinematic flair.
Mortal Kombat is currently poised to release sometime in 2021 via theaters and HBO Max. The reboot is directed by Simon McQuoid (in his feature directorial debut) from a screenplay by Greg Russo and Dave Callaham and a story by Oren Uziel and Russo. It is based on the video game franchise of the same name created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, serving as a reboot to the Mortal Kombat film series and the third installment overall. The film will feature an ensemble cast including Ludi Lin, Joe Taslim, Tadanobu Asano, Jessica McNamee, Mehcad Brooks, Josh Lawson, Chin Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada.
