South Korea is really churning out some incredible horror movies and streaming series and now they look to continue to improve their track record with, Sweet Home.
The official synopsis for the Netflix series states: “Following the death of his family in an accident, loner Cha Hyun-soo moves to a new apartment. His quiet life is soon disturbed by strange incidents that start occurring in his new building. As people turn into monsters, Hyun-soo and other residents try to survive”. It is based on the webtoon of the same name Kim Kan-bi and Hwang Young-chan and stars Song Kang, Lee Jin-wook, and Lee Si-young among many others. By the looks of it, the show will focus on a bunch of people who are trapped in their building when monsters start to appear out of nowhere and take over the world. But the tide turns in their favour when they discover that one of their own has become a mashup between human and monster.
It has some weird parallels to what is going on in the real world with COVID-19 pandemic and people being forced to quarantine. The show couldn’t come at a better time. Some critics however are already complaining about the spotty CGI however if the characters are likable and the story is interesting that will help offset any poorly rendered CGI monsters.
Sweet Home drops on December 18th.
