After the lackluster conclusion to the sequel Star Wars trilogy fans were left feeling unfulfilled. Luckily Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni came and brought George Lucas with them to give the franchise a much needed shot in the arm with the Disney + series The Mandalorian. Today, Disney revealed a ton of projects that are coming soon based in the timeline of The Mandalorian and beyond.
Long story short, if you thought Star Wars was going away anytime soon, think again! Here we go: An Ahsoka series starring Rosario Dawson, a spin-off of TheMandalorian called “Rangers of New Republic”, ”Rogue Squadron” (a film releasing in 2023) directed by Patty Jenkins, “The Acolyte” created by Leslye Headland and set during the High Republic era, “Andor” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi”(with Hayden Christensen reprising his role as Darth Vader) an upcoming Lando Calrissian series, a Clone Wars sequel “The Bad Batch” (for which we got our first trailer), “Star Wars Visions” (an anime short form series) and “A Droid Story” (another animated series featuring R2-D2 and C-3PO).
For those counting, along with “The Mandalorian,” that makes up all 10 promised “Star Wars” titles.
Marvel Studios, by contrast, has already announced eight titles for Disney Plus, almost all of which are in some stage of development or production. “WandaVision” will premiere on Jan. 15, and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” and “Loki” are expected to debut in the first half of 2021 as well. The animated series “What If…?,” and live-action series “Ms. Marvel,” “Hawkeye,” “Moon Knight,” “She-Hulk,” and an untitled series focusing on Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury are all in the pipeline as well.
