DC comics is dropping two new villain centric series in early 2021. One that takes readers into the deprived mind of the Joker and another that showcases the evil version of the JLA, The Crime Syndicate.
Coming this March, the Clown Prince of Crime’s signature brand of chaos will be inflicted on a global scale when he gets a brand new monthly series from scribe James Tynion IV and artist Guillem March, aptly titled The Joker.
Following the events of the Joker War, which saw Joker seize control of all of Bruce Wayne’s assets and resources, allowing him to wreak even more havoc on Gotham, turning the metropolis into a literal war zone, Joker is on the run as the most wanted criminal on the planet. Needing to get as far away from Gotham as possible, the clown heads abroad, but a simple change of scenery will likely prove insufficient to keep him alive and free. A haggard Jim Gordon, facing retirement, is dead set on taking down Gotham’s most dangerous and enduring threat once and for all to add some closure to his long, exhausting career as Gotham’s top cop.
The Crime Syndicate on the other hand is 6-issue mini-series by former Marvel and IDW editor Andy Schmidt and Kieran McKeown, artist on Halo and Aliens, spinning out of Death Metal. Classically they are the Justice League of Earth-3, a world where good and bad are reversed. But now? Who knows?
Spinning out of Dark Nights: Death Metal, the DC Multiverse is reborn, and with it a new Earth-3!
What if the Justice League decided to rule the world instead of protect it? A paranoid titan (Ultraman), a narcissist (Super Woman), a nihilist (Owlman), a broken moral compass (Power Ring/Emerald Knight), a sociopath (Johnny Quick) and a sadist (Atomica). Does the world stand a chance?
Both series are expected to debut March 2021.
