The biggest kaiju (or titan) rematch of the century has been bumped up from May all the way to March! Warner Bros, in the wake of making good with Legendary on the simultaneous release of Godzilla vs. Kong in theaters and on HBO Max, will be releasing the movie on March 26 instead of May 21.
This will allow the colossal monsters to stay clear of a ton of competition that it would have in the summer both on streaming and possibly in theaters.
The film has been forced to play hop scotch with release dates due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic. But now thanks to Warner Bros committing their entire 2021 slate of films to HBO Max there’s no reason to make fans wait to see the movie months from now.
The film is directed by You’re Next’s Adam Wingard and is sequel to Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Kong: Skull Island, it is the fourth film in Legendary‘s MonsterVerse. The film is also the 36th film in the Godzilla franchise, the 12th film in the King Kong franchise, and the fourth Godzilla film to be completely produced by a Hollywood studio. The film stars Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Jessica Henwick, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir.
