HipsterZOMBIEJoint Movie Review: Horizon Line

Imagine being stuck in a confined space with an ex or a one night stand. Now compound that with being stuck mid-air with that person over the sea with no idea where you are going or how to get back to solid ground. That is the panic inducing plot for Horizon Line.

The film directed by Mikael Marcimain (The Shallows) and starring Alexander Dreymon, Allison Williams and Keith David.

Jackson and Sara board a local flight piloted by Sara’s friend Wyman. Wyman invites Sara to the co-pilot seat while Jackson sleeps in the main cabin. During the flight Wyman has a heart attack and passes away sending the plane into freefall. Sara and Jackson recover but the autopilot is damaged and they are faced with the fact that Sara will need to fly the plane to get them to safety.

Now this is where the film begins to walk a fine line between intense drama and Fast & Furious kind of science. Because even though the scenes that have the two protagonists having to go outside the plane for spoiler-ish reasons create great drama it’s also highly impossible they could have survived doing what they did. Still though, a scene early on where the couple is forced to head straight in to an on coming storm at sea is pretty exhilarating.

The film might be a little over the top but it is a thrilling joyride worth checking out. HipsterZOMBIEJoint Experience recommends checking it out on VOD if you get the chance.
