Not only are DC fans getting the highly anticipated Justice League Snyder Cut this week but they are also getting a documentary about the process that went into making it.
A behind-the-scenes cameraman, Simon Firsht, was the person who revealed that not only will Zack Snyder’s Justice League be available on HBO Max from March 18, but also a making-of documentary. Firsht, who was on set for the original shoot, posted the news on his Instagram account, confirming the 30-minute documentary contains “never before seen” footage, along with an interview with Snyder. Firsht’s post, and details on the behind-the-scenes documentary, can be seen below:
Now as awesome as that might sound the documentary is said to only be 30 minutes. But the doc is said to have an interview with Zack Snyder. But don’t think for one instant that WB is going to reveal all the horrible things behind the scenes that led to this. Also don’t expect them to descend into the horrifying and toxic working environment that occurred when director Joss Whedon took over.
The mere fact that fans outright rejected WB’s plans for their version of JL in favor of Snyder’s is enough egg on the face. This is a big W for the fans and Snyder and a big L for Warner Bros. I fully expect this documentary to serve more of a featurette for the Snyder Cut with Snyder heaping praise on the fans and talking about his vision of the film. I don’t think we will hear one negative thing about the theatrical cut or WB’s decision that ended up almost killing the future of DC films.
Hopefully one day, we will finally hear the complete story of the Snyder Cut and all the drama, infighting and tampering that cost thousands of jobs. That sounds like the making of an amazing Netflix documentary series.
Justice League Snyder Cut premieres exclusively on HBO Max March 18th!
