“Production begins soon on Obi-Wan Kenobi, a special event series coming to DisneyPlus. The incredible cast includes Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.“
The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is directed by Deborah Chow, director of two critically acclaimed episodes of The Mandalorian Season 1.
The series also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader.
The Prequel films in the past had been maligned by fans for never living up to expectations or were seen as too kid friendly. So it’s ironic that it took two animated series, The Clone Wars and Rebels to not just give proper respect to the prequels but also expand the story by introducing beloved new characters and concepts to the franchise. The new prequel series will begin shooting in April.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will be available exclusively on Disney+.
