Zack Snyder Releases Alternate Take Of The Batman/Joker/Knightmare Scene From “Justice League”

The “We Live In A Society” line made famous by Jared Leto’s Joker in the Justice League HBO Max trailer took on a life of its own when it was released. However, the line didn’t end up making it in the actual movie.

Today, director Zack Snyder released the alternate take with new lines of dialogue between Ben Affleck’s Batman and Leto’s Joker from the Knightmare scene. The scene is in black and white making it feel like a classic comic book moment.

The scene ends with Joker asking Batman which victim he thought screamed louder in their last moments: the girl or the boy. Now one can assume Joker is referring to Robin when he says “the boy” but the girl is up to debate. Story wise Joker could be referring to Lois Lane, whose death in the Knightmare timeline caused Superman to join Darkseid. Other possibilities could Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl who (in the comics) was shot, brutalized, and possibly raped by the Joker. The last possibility is Harley Quinn. During the conversation, Batman tells Joker Harley died in his arms.

Either way, it’s a very powerful scene that you should check out above now.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is now streaming on HBO Max.
