The Snyder Cut lives, now the fight for #RestoreTheSnyderVerse is burning up Twitter, continuing to trend. Adding fuel to the vigilant geek fire is actor Joe Manganiello who played the superhuman assassin, Deathstroke. The character has shown up in animated form and on live action on the Smallville, Arrow, and Titans (played by various actors). But nothing got the fans hyped like Manganiello donning the blue and orange suit.
The Snyder Cut ending teased what would have been a lead into the solo Ben Affleck/Batman film. Deathstroke would be hunting Batman and the rest of the bat-family in that spin-off film. There was also talk of a solo Deathstroke film that was in “development” with director Gareth Evans who created the best action film ever made, The Raid.
Those plans got dashed once Snyder was fired. However now that the Snyder Cut has come out, anything is possible. #DeathstrokeHBOMax is currently trending on Twitter, with fans — and even Manganiello himself — sharing the hashtag in hopes that WarnerMedia will answer the call.
And they just might. HBO Max is currently in a dispute with WarnerMedia to continue the Snyder Cut or not. HBO Max wants it but WarnerMedia wants to move on.
HBO Max is already planning several DC streaming shows, why not add Deathstroke?
For those who don’t know anything about the character: Deathstroke (Slade Joseph Wilson) is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic book published by DC Comics. Created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, the character debuted in The New Teen Titans #2 in December 1980 as Deathstroke the Terminator. He is usually depicted as an assassin and the archenemy of the Teen Titans, specifically Dick Grayson; he has also served as an adversary of other heroes in the DC Universe, such as Batman, Green Arrow, and the Justice League. He is the father of Joe, Rose and Grant Wilson.
Chosen for a secret experiment, the Army imbued him with a drug that allowed him to utilize and use up to 90% of his brain’s capacity granting him enhanced physical powers and near-mastery control of his body (accelerated healing-factor and heightened senses) in an attempt to create metahumansuper-soldiers for the U.S. military.
That’s a show I’d love to see! Make it happen HBO Max!
