Wrestlers who were fired yesterday by WWE such as Samoa Joe, The IICONICS, etc. can’t work for any wrestling organization until July 14th. However, due to the economic turmoil that is affecting everyone because of the global pandemic, the released talent are asking that the no compete clause be lifted.
According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, several of the talents who were released have asked that their non-compete clause be waived. This would be similar to what happened with Andrade’s release last month. It’s standard for WWE releases that talent aren’t allowed to work anywhere else for 90 days.
There is also some speculation that WWE will be making more cuts today and they will be on the NXT brand. As of this writing, we haven’t heard of any releases being made.
If WWE will grant their requests ultimately remains to be seen, but some of the wrestlers may well pop up on TV before the summer. And it’s not like these talents are past their prime. In fact, all of the wrestlers are victims of WWE’s horrendous current creative team that can’t sustain fans, has failed to develop new stars, and has some of the worst booking in the company’s history.
