No escape, no memory, 90 minutes to live. Liz is running out of oxygen and time, in order to survive she must find a way to remember who she is. Oxygen, an Alexandre Aja movie with Mélanie Laurent. May 12th on Netflix.
The science-fiction drama stars Cesar Award winner Mélanie Laurent as a scientist who wakes up to find herself trapped in a cryogenic chamber with no idea how she got there or who she is. The movie was previously titled “O2,” but Netflix has gone with the more approachable title “Oxygen” for the release next month.
Here’s the official synopsis from the streamer: “‘Oxygen’ is a French survival thriller directed by Alexandre Aja. The film tells the story of a young woman (Mélanie Laurent), who wakes up in a cryogenic pod. She doesn’t remember who she is or how she ended up there. As she’s running out of oxygen, she must rebuild her memory to find a way out of her nightmare.”
Aja is known for his heart pounding thrillers. Last year’s Crawl was an intense close quarters suspense film involving a hurricane and aggressive alligators stalking a girl and her father.
If the trailer is any indication, Oxygen looks to deliver.
