The epic global event is back!
Return to #DCFanDome 10.16.21
There will be a second edition of DC FanDome after its successful launch last August, with DC Comics and Warner Bros saying Wednesday that DC FanDome: A Global Experience is set for October 16.
The first edition came after much of the entertainment industry’s in-person events were shuttered over the past year because of the pandemic. That included Comic-Con in San Diego, a vital stop for comic and genre fare. Unlike the Comic Con At Home which was basically a bunch of zoom meetings, DC FanDome was an immersive true fan interactive event that had interviews with writers, film stars, and directors in green screen rendered backdrops drawn by the iconic Jim Lee. Backdrops featured Gotham City, Atlantis, and Themyscria. It was really unlike anything that had been done before and despite Warner Bros having its share of missteps, this was a big win.
Organizers said the 2020 event garnered more than 22 million views overall and reached 220 countries and territories.
The first FanDome gave us our first glimpse at Matt Reeves‘s The Batman trailer, and it’s probably safe to assume the next FanDome will have even more Bat-related stuff to obsess over, not to mention material for films like The Flash, Black Adam, and The Suicide Squad.
It’s too early to know what we’ll see at the FanDome this time, but DC has a whole slew of movies on the way – The Batman, Aquaman 2, Shazam: Fury of the Gods, Black Adam, and The Flash, just to name a few. Not to mention an onslaught of upcoming HBO MAX DC releated shows like the rumored Gotham PD series, Green Lantern, and John Cena’s Peacemaker.
Since only one date is being listed for this year’s FanDome it’s likely that they’re not splitting it up again – but that could always change.
