Imagine this. It’s a hot summer day in Nashville. You walk up to a shaved ice truck and you see this:
Less than a week after posting a selfie on her Instagram story sporting a bucket hat, blingy sunglasses and an air-brushed T-shirt with the caption, “Any snowcone stands hiring (right now)?,” Kacey Musgraves put in a Friday afternoon shift with Nashville food truck Blue Monkey Shaved Ice.
A line snaked along the sidewalk and down the street of the 2600 block of 12South, across the street from the Draper James boutique, while Musgraves greeted customers, took and prepared orders (which were free) and took photos with fans.
Within the day she posted the photo, Blue Monkey “slid in the DMs and we went from there,” Musgraves said. Click on the images below to see the Musgraves serving fans and posing for pictures.
Now it looks like Kacey enjoyed the new gig, but for all of our sake I hope she doesn’t decide to make a career change and leave the country music game just yet.
But if you can’t go on tour to connect with your fans thanks to the pandemic, the next best thing is serving them free shaved ice on a hot day.
