Do you realize what you’re doing is illegal? The adult animated anthology returns with a vengeance. Love, Death + Robots Volume 2 coming May 14. Consume Irresponsibly.
Netflix releases the red band trailer for season 2 of Love, Death + Robots. Created by David Fincher and Tim Miller (Deadpool), Love, Death + Robots is an adult animated science fiction anthology series based loosely on the 1981 cult classic film Heavy Metal, also an animated anthology of various sci-fi stories. Netflix released the first volume of Love, Death + Robots in March of 2019. The episodes varied in length, ranging from 6 to 17 minutes, and focused generally on the three aforementioned subjects: love, death, and robots.
The show’s blend of sci-fi, horror, and cyberpunk elements was received fairly well amongst critics and audiences, and was renewed for a second season soon after in June of the same year. Season 1’s voice cast included Gary Cole, Chris Parnell, Omid Abtahi, and John DiMaggio, while Topher Grace and Mary Elizabeth Winstead appeared in live-action roles as opposed to animated. Given the nature of an anthology series, it is unlikely any of these actors will return for season 2. Netflix dropped a trailer for the series’ second volume last month, but the show’s adult content lent itself perfectly to a red band trailer, and Netflix delivered.
While season 1 of Love, Death + Robotsconsisted of 18 episodes, volume 2 will drop down to 8. However, Jennifer Yuh Nelson, an animator known for Kung Fu Panda, was brought on to oversee all eight episodes.
