DC Comics is for sale and one potential buyer is Disney. Now that WarnerMedia and Discovery are merging the fate of DC Comics is up in the air and the House of Mouse wants to swoop in and snatch up heroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman.
But wait, doesn’t Disney already own Marvel Comics? Yes, and if Disney were to buy DC they would merge the DC stable of heroes under the Marvel Comics banner. Something that would shake up the comic book industry to its very core.
For as long as there has been DC Comics there has been Marvel. If the big two of the industry merged into a super conglomerate it would be the biggest news event of the century.
Last year there was actually a rumor stating that Marvel was going to take over DC, which could mean that if Warner/Discovery is sold to Disney that Kevin Feige (who is now in charge of Marvel) could develop some of the DC characters into movies, or even bring some of the characters into the MCU, such as through the Multiverse.
So that would mean we could actually end up seeing the likes of Batman, Superman, and the Justice League side by side The Avengers (or against them).
And honestly it could be the best thing to happen to DC Comics, cinematically speaking. WB has had little to no clue on what to do with their DC heroes. They killed the SnyderVerse, are planning a black Superman film no one wants, and have no clear vision on what to do moving forward. WB has botched their superhero films so bad it’s led to the demise of their studio.
Feige could easily inject the DC heroes into the Marvel Universe through the multiverse and now that heroes like Captain America and Iron Man are gone, now would be a good time to have some new heroes step up.
But this is all hypothetical still. However the chances of this happening are very high.
