The Time Variance Authority comes for Loki in this clip for the upcoming series, Marvel Studios’ Loki.
Loki is an upcoming series created by Michael Waldron for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it shares continuity with the films of the franchise and takes place after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame (2019), in which an alternate version of Loki created a new timeline. Loki is produced by Marvel Studios, with Waldron serving as head writer and Kate Herron directing for the first season.
Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as Loki from the film series, with Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Wunmi Mosaku also starring. By September 2018, Marvel Studios was developing a number of limited series for Disney+, centered on supporting characters from the MCU films.
After stealing the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), an alternate version of Loki is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline. They give Loki a choice: face being erased from existence due to being a “time variant”, or help fix the timeline and stop a greater threat. Loki ends up trapped in his own crime thriller, traveling through time and altering human history.
Marvel Studios’ Loki begins streaming June 9 with new episodes every Wednesday on Disney+.
