DC Comics & Warner Animation’s adaptation to the popular video game & comic book series, Injustice, doesn’t live up at all to its source material. Everything from the poor voice talents chosen for this film and the horrendous animation proves that the real Injustice here is that this is the animated adaptation WB thought was acceptable.
Like the video game, the story takes place on an alternate Earth in which the Joker has tricked Superman into killing Lois Lane, sending the hero on a rampage. This unnhinged Superman decides to take control of Earth for its own good, leading Batman and his allies to attempt to stop him. The concept of Injustice is pretty fascinating. The Joker realizes he can’t break Batman so he turns his attention to Superman and not only breaks him completely down, he takes the best of the Justice League and turns him from a symbol of hope to fear. In death, Joker’s greatest victory causes a schism in the League and friends become enemies with multiple casualties on both sides.
In the video game a fast paced story works because all you want to do is fight, but in the comic book adaptation, the story is more developed and characters on both sides are given time to explain their stance. Which is why it’s one of the best DC Comics to ever come out. If Warner Animation would have taken their time and maybe turned this into a series of films or maybe even an HBO Max mini-series it would have been for the better. However, they cram a ton of story, breeze through important plot points, and rush to a very unsatisfying conclusion.
With that said, the main Injustice here is how they butchered the Injustice storyline. Lack of plot development mixed with ugly animation and this might be one of the biggest let downs to ever come out of Warner Animation. HipsterZOMBIEJoint Experience DOES NOT recommend Injustice.
HipsterZOMBIEJoint Experience HATED Injustice…
