Despite the OG Walking Dead series ending after this long drawn out final season, the franchise will continue to shuffle on with some spin-off series. One of which is “Tales of The Walking Dead” which has been green-lit.
The show’s six-episode first season is slated to debut on AMC and AMC Plus in summer 2022. Each one-hour episode is set within the world of “The Walking Dead” and will feature both new and existing characters. Channing Powell, who has worked as a writer and producer on both “The Walking Dead” and “Fear the Walking Dead,” serves as showrunner. Powell will work alongside Scott M. Gimple, the chief content officer of “The Walking Dead” universe.
The series will be an anthology that will bring back old characters and fan favorites from previous seasons and introduce new characters as well.
“Tales of the Walking Dead” joins another upcoming “Walking Dead” spinoff that will star Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride, continuing the story of Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier, the two remaining characters from “The Walking Dead’s” first episode. The zombie series has already spawned earlier spinoffs “Fear the Walking Dead” and “World Beyond.”
