I’ve not been a huge fan of Batwoman since the show premiered a few years back. While not a fan, I was quite open to the possibility of the show, however, casting changes and lackluster storytelling has lost any interest I had in the series. Speaking of casting, Ruby Rose initially announced that she was parting ways with Batwoman after its first season, both sides seemed to indicate the split was mutual. However, Rose has taken to Instagram to talk about the working conditions she claims she faced while working on the series.
Rose began her Instagram story posts by saying:
“Enough is enough” when she called out showrunner Caroline Dries and Berlanti Productions’ Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. The actress went on to write, “I’m going to tell the whole world what really happened on that set. [Former Warner Bros. Television Group Chariman] Peter Roth, you are first up. You are chapter one. Not sure if you left after getting promoted to the highest position because you couldn’t stop making young women steam your pants around your crotch while you were still wearing said pants or if you left after putting a private investigator on me who you fired as soon as the report didn’t fit your narrative. Either way, when it comes to you, there’s already an army waiting for you.”
“To Everyone who said I was too stiff on Batwoman, imagine going back to work 10 days after this…10 DAYS!!!!!! (or the whole crew and cast would be fired and I’d let everyone down because Peter Roth said he wouldn’t recast and I just lost the studio millions (by getting injured on his set) that is, be the one who cost so many people their jobs.”
Of course this isn’t the first star to come out against CW. Legends of Tomorrow star Dominic Purcell wrote a scathing social media post when he left:
“Deal isn’t done. I have no interest. What ever cash they throw on the corporate level. Im walking away from @cw_legendsoftomorrow. It’s been a total pleasure and a humbling experience bringing @dccomics iconic character #heatwave (aka) MICK RORY to life. I smashed this character— not an actor in the world could have done better. FACT….” He then continued on, saying, “Time to move on and see how shit unfolds. @caitylotz @nickzano look after the kids coming through. They need education. They are a number— teach them to not rely on loyalty from the studio. The studio does not care. The actors work ethic and talent must give them the confidence to question authority. ….Much love to all. It’s not lost on me how very fortunate I am. …..ACTORS HIT ME UP ON DM.”
So when there’s smoke you better believe there is fire. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
