Today, Peacock released a teaser for the dramatic reimaging of Fresh Prince, “Bel-Air.”
Gone are the jokes and charm that made the original a classic and in comes drama, race debates, and virtue signaling I’m assuming…
Set in modern-day America, Bel-Air is a serialized one-hour dramatic analogue of the 90’s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” that leans into the original premise: Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. With a reimagined vision, Bel-Air will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show.
The reboot was inspired by Morgan Cooper’s fan film that re-envisioned the sitcom. The drama hails from Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook Studios and Universal Television.
There might be some hope if Will Smith is involved, but honestly have you seen Peacock’s “Saved by the Bell” series, yeah, its pretty bad…some ideas work better as fan films.
