Netflix continues their video game adaptions with the upcoming Resident Evil series, Witcher season 2, and now a Mega Man live-action film.
Capcom’s blue bomber, who has blasting his way through side scrollers since 1987, is primed for a live action film. One that has been in various stages of development since 2015. Originally built to assist his creator, Dr. Thomas Light, he was later repurposed to fight evil robots built by Light’s former colleague, Dr. Wily. Over the years, Mega Man has gone on the headline several additional sequels and spinoffs. He has also appeared in his own Japanese animated series and even a few Archie Comics as well.
The Mega Man movie was originally set up at 20th Century Studios. Joost and Schulman, (Catfish and Project Power), were announced as the film’s co-writers and directors in 2017. This latest announcement marks the first concrete bit of news about the film in a long time. Regardless, IGN’s sources indicate that the movie is “still very early in development.”
