Netflix has gradually been working their way to 20.00 a month and now they have finally done it. It looks like if you want to keep the premium package with multiple profiles and 4K streaming now might be the time to start charging your friends who have been using your login.
The standard plan for example will be coing up form $13.99 a month to $15.49 a month. These mark the first price increases for Netflix in the US since October of 2020 and unlike the previous increases are effective immediately. The premium plan on Netflix, which gives users the option for ultra HD streaming, has been increased from $17.99 a month to $19.99 a month. Even the most basic plan from Netflix increased its plan by one dollar.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Netflix said: “We understand people have more entertainment choices than ever and we’re committed to delivering an even better experience for our members…We’re updating our prices so that we can continue to offer a wide variety of quality entertainment options. As always we offer a range of plans so members can pick a price that works for their budget.”
With piracy at an all time high, Netflix might potentially run off a lot of subscribers with continued price increases. Sure they might be producing their own original content nowadays but HBO MAX and Disney Plus have all the classic and franchises people have come to love and at a cheaper price!
