IFC Midnight is known for its unique take on horror but this film looks to just be completely out there.
The film follows Tinja who is a 12-year-old gymnast desperate to please her image-obsessed mother. After finding a wounded bird in the woods, she brings its strange egg home, nestles it in her bed and nurtures it until it hatches. The creature that emerges soon becomes her closest friend and a living nightmare, plunging Tinja into a twisted reality that her mom refuses to see.
This Finnish horror flick, that premiered at Sundance, was helmed by Hanna Bergholm in her feature directorial debut.
The film offers two monstrous antagonists, a grotesque bird creature and a pushy gymnastics mom. Check out the trailer above.
