The World Needs Heroes and DC Comics & Warner Bros look to present them on the big screen once again in 2022.
Kicking off with March’s debut of “The Batman” which is set apart from the rest of the DCEU and introduces a new Batman played by Robert Pattinson. It is a reboot of the Batman film franchise. The film was directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig. It stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman alongside Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. Set in his second year of fighting crime, the film sees Batman uncover corruption in Gotham City while pursuing the Riddler (Dano), a serial killer who targets Gotham’s elite.
It’s followed by the animated film, DC’s League of Super-Pets, on May 20. From there, three DCEU movies will hit theaters. Dwayne Johnson’s long-delayed Black Adam will see the debut of Justice Society of America, Ezra Miller’s The Flash will also bring back both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck’s versions of Batman, and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom caps off the year.
This is a big moment for the DCEU. It’s a return to the cinema since the pandemic with no same date release on HBO Max attached to it.
