FX has announced that “Pistols”, their highly anticipated six-episode FX limited series, based on The Sex Pistols will premiere on May 6th. The series is directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle (“Trainspotting”, “Slumdog Millionaire”) and marks his second music based project after the Beatles inspired “Yesterday”. The project marks a reunion for Boyle with FX as he directed their criminally underrated limited series “Trust”, which I LOVED!!!. The series is created by Craig Pearce (“Moulin Rogue!”, “The Great Gatsby”) and written by Pearce and Frank Cottrell Boyce (“24 Hour Party People”).
Coming into the music scene decades ago, The Sex Pistols were abrasive, loud, and didn’t give one single fuck about what you thought of them. And people ate it up. Of course, the band would fall apart almost as quickly as they became famous. The rise of the Pistols is one of the best stories of music in the 20th century and their story is finally going to be told on screen. The series is told from the perspective of the band’s guitarist, Steve Jones.
The series stars Toby Wallace (“Babyteeth”), Anson Boon (“1917”), Louis Partridge (“Enola Holmes”), Jacob Slater, Fabien Frankel, Dylan Llewellyn, Sydney Chandler, Emma Appleton (“The Witcher”) Emmy nominee Thomas Brodie-Sangster (“The Queen’s Gambit”),Talulah Riley (“Westworld”) and Emmy nominee Maisie Williams (“Game of Thrones”).
