Fallout is one of the greatest open world, multiple story branch game next to The Witcher. When I heard Amazon was considering adapting it into a live-action series I was a bit apprehensive. However, this casting news today has me a little hyped.
Walter Goggins (“Justified”) is set to lead Amazon’s series adaptation of the “Fallout” video game. The series comes from Oscar nominee Jonathan Nolan (“The Dark Knight”, “Interstellar”) and his wife Lisa Joy, who together are known for creating “Westworld”. Nolan will direct the pilot for the series that will be co-showrunned by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (“Captain Marvel”) and Graham Wagner (“The Office”, “Silicon Valley”).
The world of “Fallout” is one where the future envisioned by Americans in the late 1940s explodes upon itself through a nuclear war in 2077. The magic of the Fallout world is the harshness of the wasteland set against the previous generation’s utopian idea of a better world through nuclear energy. It is serious and harsh in tone, yet sprinkled with moments of ironic humor.
The main character of the game creates an multitude of custom weapons and a mech suit as he travels a wasteland filled with zombies, mutated creatures, and rival colonies of humans. Should make for a very action packed show.
