Per Mercwiththemovies;
Finally some supporting cast news. Harvey Guillén (“What We Do In The Shadows”), Belissa Escobedo (“Beauty and The Baker”), Bruna Marquezine have joined the cast of DC’s “Blue Beetle”, which stars Xolo Maridueño (“Cobra Kai”) in the lead role. The film, which is arriving in theaters next year will be directed by Angel Manuel Soto (“Charm City Kings”) from a script by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (“Miss Bala”).
Xolo will play Mexican-American teenager Jaime Reyes aka Blue Beetle. Marquezine is set to play Penny, a love interest for Jaime, while Escobedo will be playing Milagros Reyes, Jaime’s younger sister. Although not a prominent comic book character, Milagros is part of Jaime’s journey into becoming a superhero accepting the consequences of fighting crime in the middle of the night. In one specific storyline, Jaime disappears for a whole year, only to come back to a devastated family and a broken-hearted sister. There’s no information at the moment on who Guillén is playing.
HBO Max, Warner Bros, and the DCEU finally look to be on the same page by producing content based on the amazing line of superheroes that have just been sitting on the shelf collecting dust.
