Oscar nominee Florence Pugh is in talks to play Princess Irulan in “Dune:Part Two”, which is set to film later this year for an October 20, 2023 release. If a deal is closed she will be the first new cast member hired for the sequel, she will play the role that was played by Oscar nominee Virginia Madsen in the 1984 version. Princess Irulan Corrino is the eldest daughter to Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV.
3 time Oscar nominee Denis Villeneuve will be returning to finish off his passion project. Florence would join returning cast members that include Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, and Javier Bardem.
The first film was a masterful retelling of the Dune story and its production was top notch. Arguably one of the most visually beautiful films of the past year, this new live action iteration of Dune is allowing the story to breathe and be broken up into 3 films so the entire story can be told and not just mashed all into one film like the original one did.
